Assembly_ 다크 팩토리 시대의 전시

인간의 노동이 점차 사라지는 자동화된 생산 환경 속에서 우리는 새로운 질문과 마주한다.
생산의 과정에서 인간이 배제된 이후, 인간은 어떤 방식으로 세계와 능동적으로 관계 맺을 수 있는가.

‘다크 팩토리(Dark Factory)’는 이러한 변화의 상징적인 개념이다.
이 시스템에서 생산은 더 이상 인간의 노동을 전제로 하지 않는다.
조명과 난방, 휴식 공간처럼 인간을 위해 설계된 인프라는 제거되고, AI가 판단하고 로봇이 실행하는 자율적인 생산 환경이 구축된다.
‘다크(dark)’라는 표현은 사람이 존재하지 않아 불을 켤 필요조차 없는 상태를 은유한다.

‘팩토리(factory)’라는 개념은 단순히 물건을 생산하는 산업 시설만을 의미하지 않는다.
현재 전시가 열리는 S-Factory처럼 말이다.
기계가 물질을 생산해내는 장소이기도 하지만, 동시에 인간이 예술을 통해 새로운 감각과 의미를 생성해내는 공간을 가리키기도 한다.
이러한 관점에서 볼 때, 예술은 또 다른 형태의 ‘생산’이며, 전시는 그 생산이 이루어지는 하나의 장이 된다.

<Assembly>는 이러한 변화를 상상하는 전시이다.
생산이 더 이상 인간의 노동을 필요로 하지 않는다면, 인간의 감각과 판단, 그리고 존재의 의미는 어디에서 작동하게 되는가.

이 전시는 생산의 영역에서 밀려난 인간의 감각을 다시 호출한다.
따라서 <Assembly>는 단순히 기술 변화의 미래를 보여주는 전시가 아니라, 인간의 감각과 의미가 어떤 방식으로 다시 구성될 수 있는지를 탐색하는 장이 된다.
생산을 담당하는 기계와 의미를 구성하는 인간 사이에서, 우리는 다시 한 번 예술의 존재 이유를 질문하게 된다.

Assembly: An Exhibition in the Age of the Dark Factory

In an increasingly automated environment where human labor is gradually disappearing, we are confronted with new questions.
Once humans are excluded from the process of production, in what ways can they continue to engage actively with the world?

The “Dark Factory” is a symbolic concept that represents this transformation.
Within this system, production no longer presupposes human labor.
Infrastructure designed for humans—such as lighting, heating, and rest areas—is removed, and an autonomous environment emerges in which AI makes decisions and robots execute them.

The term “dark” metaphorically refers to a state in which there is no need to turn on the lights, as no humans are present.

The notion of a “factory” does not merely refer to an industrial site where goods are manufactured.
It also points to spaces like S-Factory, where this exhibition takes place.
Such spaces are not only where machines produce material objects, but also where humans generate new sensations and meanings through art.
From this perspective, art can be understood as another form of “production,” and the exhibition becomes a site where that production unfolds.

Assembly is an exhibition that imagines this shift.
If production no longer requires human labor, where do human perception, judgment, and the meaning of existence come into play?

This exhibition calls back the human senses that have been pushed out of the realm of production.
Thus, Assembly is not simply about presenting a technological future, but about exploring how human perception and meaning can be reconfigured.
Between machines that produce and humans who construct meaning, we are once again prompted to question the very reason for the existence of art.
